10 Days of Proverbs 31 - Day 1

Photobucket
I am so excited to kick off our series of the Proverbs 31 woman! A lot of women have prayed over this series and know that God has amazing things planned in YOUR life! How do we know this is for you? Because God has directed you here. Whether you follow BBM regularly, found us through another blog link or various other methods you are here for a reason - and I am so thrilled you are!!

God has been speaking to my own heart a lot lately concerning our marriages. As a wife, taking a closer look at the woman described in Proverbs 31 is a great way for us to examine areas of our own lives that  need a little work. In turn, as we become stronger women of God, we will begin to look at our marriages in a different light. If you are not married, that's ok. This is for you too. The Proverbs 31 woman is a rare treasure that we can all strive to become. If you're like me, you may have found the woman in verses 10-31 to be an unrealistic, unattainable vision of perfection. After reading and studying her in greater detail, I've discovered although rare (vs 10) she is attainable.

Over the next 10 days I will be sharing how she uses her time wisely. Let me just tell you, God did some (ok, a LOT) of convicting in my own heart in this area. So what are we waiting for? Let's dive in!

"She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness." Proverbs 31:27

One of the most notable characteristics of the Proverbs 31 woman is that she is busy. Verse 27 says, "she does not eat the bread of idleness." All of her time has a purpose. "Then I am well on my way to being a Proverbs 31 woman because my days are so packed I can't possibly commit to one more thing." If this is the thought that just ran through your mind, wait! With what do you fill your days? Are they filled "attending to the affairs of your household"? Or do you find yourself going to bed each night wondering where the day has gone, feeling as though little was accomplished? If you relate more with the later, don't feel bad. Most of us do!

Take a moment to evaluate how you spend your time. How much time do you spend watching tv, surfing the web, chatting online, texting, sleeping in, leisurely shopping and spending time with your girlfriends? None of these things are wrong, in moderation. However, when they take time away from your responsibilities at home, there is a problem!

Feeling overwhelmed and discouraged already? DON'T!! I've been praying for you! Over the next 9 days we will see how you and I can become wiser in our time management. We will see how this rare treasure (vs 10) spends her time and how it relates to us today. God is doing great and mighty things in our lives! Come back tomorrow as we see how she spends her mornings. Until tomorrow...
Be Blessed and Be a Blessing!

Torrie, I'm so excited to hear the things God will be sharing with all of us through you. Time management is such a bug-a-boo for so many of us. With all those time-suckers infiltrating our lives, it is so refreshing to be reminded that WHO we live our lives for is so much greater.

So true Kate! When I began asking myself if this _______ (fill in the past time)was filling me up with anything that reflects Christ, it really made me re-evaluate where my time was being spent!

This is awesome, Torrie! She was not idle and neither are we. Now, we just have to get the rest of her characteristics down :).
